Wings On Mythology

Description

These are Wings that I sewed together by hand. The feathers are made of Greek, Roman, Crow Indian and Chinese Mythology.

The Wing on the Left is tinted tan by Tea. The right is clean out of the book where the mythology was taken.

Titles and fragments of the texts are still visible but impossible to read entirely. The Feathers hang down off of the metal frames. The frames were removed from an umbrella.

When laid flat, the wings have a combined span of 44 inches. The height is roughly 13 inches from the highest feather to the lowest.

*a story about these wings*
I left my 3D class [Columbus Drive building of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago] an hour early.

My friend Candice, my roommate and I decide to go through the museum [Art Institute of Chicago] to leave back to the dorms. Well, as I walked into the museum the guard asked me what I had, I was carrying my wings... well at least the one that doesn't fold up. So I told her it was a wing and she was like "Oh, Okay." and I kept walking.

We were maybe... oh... about 20-30 feet into the museum when a guard comes up to me from behind and says "Young lady, What do you have in your hands?"

I stop and look at him really funny like and say "What?" I hold up the wing and say "It's a wing."

He looked at me and said "Oh... Okay... It looked like feathers from something in the Museum."

HAHAHA! They thought I was pilfering from the museum! That made me feel like a million bucks! Bwahaha! Museum quality work, yo.
